IMAMURA YOSHIO

Imamura Yoshio was born in Nagano, Japan in 1948. After studying painting in high school, he moved to Tokyo at age 20 as a design assistant. Imamura Yoshio has been a self-employed graphic designer since 1974 and a printmaker since the late 1970’s. Mostly (and remarkably) self-taught, he has studied printmaking in Paris at the prestigious Atelier Contre Point (1991) and by participating in the Japanese Government’s Overseas Study Programs, also in Paris in 1997.

Rejuvenation

Imamura-san has exhibited extensively to international acclaim. His work has been exhibited in numerous major international exhibitions in Asia, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. He has held more than thirty solo exhibitions in Japan, Korea and the Netherlands. Major highlights include:

1982 to present:  Japan Print Association (JPA) shows. Imamura-san was also a judge at this show in 2002. He received awards in 1989 and 1996.
